Students applying for the online Bachelor of Social Work program must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.2 on a 4.0 scale
  • Students with a 2.0–2.19 GPA may be considered and accepted on a conditional basis provided they are able to demonstrate their plans to succeed in the program.
• General admission requirements

To apply, submit the following:

• An online application
• An official transcript request form (a scanned copy may be emailed to your enrollment counselor)
• The BSW program application:
  • The required self-assessment form
  • A 300- to 500-word personal statement using prompts listed on the social work application form

If you are a current BSW student at King, you may qualify for guaranteed admission to the MSW – Advanced Standing program if you meet the following requirements:

• Submit an online application by November 1 for an early decision
• Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher while in the King BSW program
• Submit two recommendations
  • One from the BSW Program Coordinator, Dr. Jodi Helbert
  • One from the Field Education Director, Ms. Stacy Chase
• Complete a one-on-one interview with MSW faculty

If you’re a King BSW alum even if you completed your BSW more than five years ago*, you may qualify for preferred admission to the MSW – Advanced Standing program if you meet the following requirements:

• Submit an online application
• Have earned a BSW from King University with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Students with a lower GPA may be considered and accepted on a conditional basis
• Submit two recommendations
  • One from a King University faculty member
  • One from a work supervisor
• Complete a one-on-one interview with MSW faculty
• Submit a professional resume or CV

*If you earned a BSW from King University more than five years ago, but have been working the field, you are still encouraged to apply to the Advanced Standing program.

Other students applying for the MSW – Advanced Standing degree must meet the following requirements:

• Have earned a BSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program* within the last five years, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Students with a lower GPA may be considered and accepted on a conditional basis
• Submit the following:
  • An online application
  • Transcripts from all prior universities
  • A copy of your final field evaluation that demonstrates excellence in the field
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A personal statement
  • A professional resume or CV

*If you earned a BSW from a CSWE-accredited institution more than five years ago, but have been working in the field, you are still encouraged to apply to the Advanced Standing program.

If you’re a King alum you may qualify for preferred admission to the MSW – Foundational program if you meet the following requirements:

• Submit an online application
• Have earned a bachelor’s degree from King University in any field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Students with a lower GPA may be considered and accepted on a conditional basis
• Submit two recommendations
  • One from a King University faculty member
  • One from a work supervisor
• Complete a one-on-one interview with MSW faculty
• Submit a professional resume or CV

Students applying for the MSW – Foundational degree must meet the following requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Students with a lower GPA may be considered and accepted on a conditional basis
• Submit the following:
  • An online application
  • Transcripts from all prior universities
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A personal statement
  • A professional resume or CV
• Complete a one-on-one interview with MSW faculty
