Undergraduate Admissions

General requirements for admission to King University include graduation from an accredited or recognized high school, GED, or secondary institution with a minimum of 16 academic units, distributed as follows:

  1. Four units of English
  2. Two units of algebra (Algebra I and II)
  3. One unit of geometry
  4. Two units of foreign language
  5. Two units from history and social studies
  6. One unit of natural science
  7. Four units of other academic electives

Students educated at home should follow the same procedures as any other candidate for the freshman class. Students should present a high school transcript and documentation, a high school diploma or its equivalency.

The Admissions Committee of the Faculty may conditionally accept students who do not present the listed preparation. Students without college experience must have a minimum 2.6 academic grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Those with college experience must have a minimum 2.2 academic grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Students granted conditional acceptance may take up to 12 semester hours.

After acceptance, students may be required to complete an ACT Compass Placement Test. Please speak with an Enrollment Counselor for more information.

Associate Admission Requirements

Students applying for the online A.A. degree program must meet the following requirements:

  1. Graduate from an accredited or recognized high school, GED or secondary institution.
  2. A minimum 2.6 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale.
    • Students with less than a 2.6 high school GPA may be considered and accepted on a conditional basis provided they are able to demonstrate a significant rationale as to why they feel they will succeed in the program
  3. Completed application, transcript form, and all previous transcripts

Associate Admission Process

Students applying for the online A.A. degree program must submit the following materials:

  1. Completed application form (and essay, if required)
  2. Complete the official transcript request form and email a scanned copy to transcripts2@learninghouse.com or fax to 800.473.2512 (copy of the form is also included on the last page of this packet).

Bachelor's Admission Requirements (non RN-BSN)

Students applying for an online bachelor’s degree program must meet the following requirements:

  1. A minimum of a 2.2 college GPA on a 4.0 scale and the equivalent of 45 semester hours or an associate degree.
    • Students with less than a 2.2 GPA may be considered and accepted on a conditional basis provided they are able to demonstrate a significant rationale as to why they feel they will succeed in the program.
  2. A completed “Plan of Study” to document how those students who need extra courses to meet the required 124 semester hours for graduation will earn additional credits.
    • Students with 45 hours or more may apply for admission; however, they must meet with a King University Student Support Specialist to develop a specific written plan that outlines how they will complete the program. This plan must be in place after acceptance, but prior to registration.
  3. Completed application, transcript form, and all previous transcripts

Admission Process (non RN-BSN)

Students applying for an online bachelor’s degree program must submit the following materials:

  1. A completed online application.
  2. The official transcript request form and email a scanned copy to transcripts2@learninghouse.com or fax to 800.473.2512.
  3. A current resume if you are applying to the interdisciplinary studies program. This resume should include a personal objective, what programs the applicant wishes to combine for their degree, and how this degree will further their career goals.

Bachelor's Admission Requirements (RN-BSN)

Students applying for the online RN-BSN program must meet the following requirements:

  1. An associate degree or diploma in nursing from an accredited and licensed school of nursing.
  2. Cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale in previous nursing courses at the community college level. Diploma program-level courses (e.g. anatomy and physiology) must have been completed at the community college level.
  3. A current unencumbered license as a registered nurse from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a compact multi-state license. Applicants should not be on probation and must report any past or current disciplinary action taken by a state board.
  4. A current CPR certification.
  5. Completed application, transcript form, and all previous transcripts

Transfer Credit: Transfer credit with a “C” grade or better is automatically recognized for students who graduated from approved nursing programs.

Bachelor's Admission Process (RN-BSN)

Students applying for admission to the online RN-BSN program must submit the following materials:

  1. A completed online application.
  2. The official transcript request form and email a scanned copy to transcripts2@learninghouse.com or fax to 800.473.2512.
  3. Verification of current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a compact Multi-State license.  Applicant should not be on probation and must report any past or current disciplinary action taken by a State Board.
  4. A copy of current CPR certification.

Once your application packet is complete for review, it will be submitted to the Admissions Committee for a complete review and assessment.

Special Considerations
: The School of Nursing has a cohort cancellation policy that reserves the right to cancel any cohort ten calendar days prior to the orientation date if minimum enrollment has not been met.
