Spotlight on King’s Transfer Process

posted by

If you are thinking about going back to school but aren’t sure what to do about previously earned credits, you’re not alone. About one-third of college students transfer schools at some point during their education. Transferring your previously earned credits is a great way to get started on the path to your continued education. At King University, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to bring your college transfer credits on board when you begin your education with us. Our easy transfer process is what makes us the largest recipient of transfer students among the institutions in the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA). We also have the largest population of transfer students from public institutions in Tennessee. We understand how much you value your previous college experience, and we are here to help make your transition to our school as smooth as possible.

Transfer Students: By the Numbers

King College transfer credits factsDuring the 2012 to 2013 academic year, we enrolled 417 transfer students from Tennessee public institutions, a number that is more than 50 percent higher than that of the second-ranked school.

All of these rankings are based on articulation, transfer policy implementation and transfer student activity among Tennessee’s other higher education institutions. That means we accept more transfer credits with a smoother process than many of the schools you might be considering. It’s not just students from Tennessee public institutions who are enrolling, either; our student population has risen 10 percent from last year’s numbers, with more than 950 students added to enrollment.

Bringing credit with you allows you to finish your degree faster. For example:

  • For most of our bachelor’s degree programs, up to 88 credit hours may be transferred. If you bring that many credits with you, it’s possible for you to finish your degree in only 16 months.
  • Or, if you come in with 61 transfer credits, you could complete your degree program in 20 months or less.

If you have previously taken classes at an accredited institution of higher education, you qualify as a transfer student. The courses you completed before being admitted to King University can be recognized and counted toward your degree requirements in the program of your choice.
